FAQ
ART
Are textile artworks less vulnerable to damage?
You have purchased a work of art. Treat it with the same care as you would a painting, a sculpture, or any other artwork.
Will the colors of the artwork fade from exposure to sunlight?
The upcycled textiles in the artwork have already been worn and washed many times. Most likely, they have faded to their maximum. But as with any art piece, it’s advisable to keep it away from exposure to direct sunlight, heat, or humidity sources.
How do I hang the soft denim panel?
For soft panels with integrated denim frame, hanging hardware is included. But please keep in mind that it might not work for all types of walls, and you might need to purchase more suitable hardware.
My soft art panel with integrated denim frame has collected some dust. How can I clean it safely?
Do not wash. Do not dry clean. Do not vacuum. If you need to refresh it, take it off the wall and shake a few times to remove dust and liven up the fringe.
Can I brush the fringe of the artwork?
Each time you comb the fringe, it disintegrates a little. So brush sparingly. If you’d like to arrange the fringe in a particular way, tousle it with your fingers. It will add different character each time, so have fun!

I love an artwork on the website, but it comes only with an integrated self-frame. Can I have this artwork stretched and framed to better fit my interior?
The artwork that has an integrated denim frame cannot be stretched and framed. If you like a particular item, but would prefer it having a precise, geometric shape, you can commission a framed version of it at an extra cost. I will be happy to discuss the details.
Can I have an art piece made from special denim items I’ve collected?
Absolutely. If you’d like to commission art, please reach out to discuss the details.
If I own your artwork, do I own its copyright too? Can I make my own copy of it?
No. As any work of art, my work is protected by the Copyright Law of the United States and of the countries signatories of the Berne Convention.
Furthermore, as visual artist, my moral rights are granted and protected by The Visual Artists Rights Act of 1990 (VARA).
Please respect my rights. I hope my art will inspire you to create your own unique work.
CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES
Does my upcycled denim garment need special care? Can I wash it with the other denim in a regular wash?
Denim Twice garments are made to withstand regular washing. Unless your garment has fringe, no special care is needed. Thus, wash it as you would any other denim item: turn it inside out, machine wash warm, preferably delicate, with similar colors. After washing, give it a shake to reshape it. Do not tumble dry: air-dry your item to prolong its life and minimize your carbon footprint. For the items with a fringe, use a laundry bag.
See details for specific items in the Tips & Info section.
Can I iron a wrinkled item?
Your air-dried item might have some light wrinkling. There is no need to iron it: when you put it on, your body’s warmth will eliminate any creases naturally. Should you choose to iron, use the cotton setting and low steam. Try not to press over the fringe, if any, as the heat will flatten it and change its appearance.
I washed my upcycled denim item, and there is some fringe peeking out where originally there was none. Can I trim it?
After the first few washes, you might notice some exposed threads appearing around the seams and raw edges. Trim them or not - it’s your choice. Should you choose to trim the threads, be careful not to snip into the stitching.
Important: do not pull on the loose threads peaking out from the edges. Snip them.
HOMEGOODS
Will the denim pillows stain my couch?
Pre-worn denim has been washed multiple times in its previous iteration, so color transfer is unlikely. But for extra protection, you may add half a cup of white vinegar (for a large load) when rinsing to help seal the color, and use lighter denim pillows on a white couch.
How often should I wash the pillow covers?
Denim is a very resilient and hardwearing fabric. It won’t stain easily, and with regular use, your pillow covers won’t need to be washed more often than once a year.
See details for specific items in the Tips & Info section.
Can I iron the denim pillow cover with the fringe?
There is no need to iron the wrinkles that might appear after washing and air-drying the pillow cover. The minimal wrinkling will disappear when you put the pillow insert in and lean on the pillow: your body’s warmth will eliminate any creases in a natural way. Should you choose to iron, use cotton setting and no steam. Don’t press over the fringe to keep it fluffy and expressive.
What is a safe way to brush the fringe?
It is better not to brush the fringe - it will not stay combed when you use the item anyway. Combing will produce lint, which indicates that the fringe is disintegrating as you are unraveling its threads. If you find it necessary to comb, do so very lightly, holding the comb perpendicular to the denim surface to prevent snagging and pulling. Lightly run a lint remover over the surface afterward. Even better, use your fingers to tousle the fringe, which will add character without damaging it.
Can I commission an item to be made from special denim pieces I’ve collected?
If you have jeans you no longer wear and would like to have them remade into something special, I will be happy to work with you. Depending on the size and wear, one pair of jeans might not be enough to produce the item of your choice. Please browse the Goods section to get a better idea about the product options and the denim variations within one item.
